Around 30 smallholder farmers now bring organically grown cherries here, most of them tending small garden plots where coffee grows alongside everyday subsistence crops. Ethiopian farms may average 2.5 hectares, but lower planting density and semi forested systems mean fewer trees and famously low yields, which makes this coffee feel especially precious.
