Why so special?
It’s like we’re getting a taste of Kenya and Colombia in the same coffee!!! This is the first lot ever and it was exclusively air freighted to us at Slide Coffee. It’s tasting delicious and it’s very limited. This micro-lot is 100% SL-28; a coffee varietal that was originally developed by Scott Laboratories to suit Kenyan soils and climate conditions in 1931. This varietal is now grown in Colombia by Felipe Arcila of Cofinet at Jardines del Eden (Cofinet’s experimental farm). Now about the Process..

The Process: Lactic Natural:
The team at Cofinet are experts at experimental processing, basically they’re wizards. This coffee was carefully hand picked to use only the ripest cherries, exposed to a dry anaerobic fermentation of 56 hours inside grain-pro bags at 20 degrees celsius. In this environment bacteria feeds from carbohydrates and sugars from the mucilage, this leads to a higher concentration of lactic acid. Afterwards, the cherries are pulped, gently washed and placed on raised beds until 10.5% moisture content.
