GUATEMALA - EL RANCHO (WASHED)

El Rancho is a six-hectare farm in the hills of Huehuetenango, Guatemala, owned by Alonzo Gaspar Juan. The farm takes its name from the ranches that once housed coffee pickers during the busy harvest season in Concepción Huista. Alonzo grows this lot entirely from Caturra, with coffee planted beneath the shade of Chalum and Gravilea trees. He is also part of the El Sendero Cooperative, a farmer-led organisation founded to give local growers better financial support and more control over how their coffee is sold. Today, the cooperative supports hundreds of producers with financing, training and access to farming resources.
