Hutan comes from Ketiara, a women-led cooperative farming along the edge of the Gunung Leuser Biosphere Reserve in Aceh, one of the most biodiverse landscapes on the planet. Here, coffee grows under deep jungle shade in rich volcanic soils, part of a syntropic system that blends fruit trees, forest cover, and organic fertilisers. Ketiara is known for clean, thoughtful wet hulling, a careful approach that gives this lot its layered sweetness and gentle herbal complexity. Hutan tastes like the forest it grows in, comforting and aromatic with a soft, syrupy finish that makes Sumatra so distinctive.
