This is our second year featuring these wonderful experimental lots from Ratnagiri Estate. In 2024 we released a triple process filter roast pack comparing three coffees from Ratnagiri, each with a uniquely wild process. This year we are exploring two new processes, this one providing big flavour, big body and concentrated sweetness due to an impressively controlled extended fermentation.

Ratnagiri Estate has been in the Patre family for nearly a century, producing both specialty coffee and fine pepper in Chikmagalur. Today, Ashok and Divya are taking it global, combining heritage with cutting-edge science. RT-LBS 1 is a vivid example: this Chandragiri natural was fermented for 41 hours in custom-built bioreactors with carefully selected microbes, then dried slowly on raised beds before finishing in a dark room. The result of this fermentation-heavy process is bold and expressive, with plenty of fruit-driven character. Remarkably clean yet adventurous, the cup is sparkly, sweet, and syrupy, full of personality that reflects Ratnagiri’s precision and vision.
